Explore Alisal’s Hidden Oasis
If you like a day spent on or near the water, the shimmering 100-acre Alisal Lake is for you. A spring-fed oasis tucked into the Santa Ynez Mountains, Alisal Lake is the perfect setting for fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, or simply a picnic and some leisurely time in the sun. Brimming with bass, trout, and bluegill, the lake is a great place to try your hand at fishing. We also offer rentals from our private fleet of boats including canoes and kayaks.
Fishing
Come enjoy one of the most peaceful spots on the Ranch. All fishing at Alisal is catch-and-release to ensure the lake and fish remained unstressed. We offer a wide variety of equipment for your fishing enjoyment including: aluminum boats equipped with trolling motors, spin fishing gear and traditional tackle.
Please note: Fishing is available to overnight guests of the Alisal only.
Guided Fishing
Take advantage of our guides’ knowledge of fishing and learn about this unique habitat. Our Orvis-endorsed guide will take you out on a bass boat and help you track down fish using traditional spinning tackle or fly fishing gear. If you are a beginner, you will be taught how to tie knots, how to cast, what tackle to use, as well as fish identification, handling, and the proper releasing method. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Archery & Air Rifle
Archery
Pick up a bow and arrow for the first time or hone your marksmanship at this unique archery field located near the shore of Alisal Lake. With the help of our expert instructors, you will learn proper technique to help you hit your target—if not a bull’s-eye! Open to guests eight years of age and older.
Rates: $35/per person
Air Rifle
Come enjoy a sunny day on the shores of the lake and learn how to become a crack shot at our air rifle course. Skilled instructors will show you the fun, safe way to enjoy the sport. Our range includes paper targets, silhouette targets, and gravity fall targets at 10, 15, and 20 meters. Open to guests eight years of age and older.

Nature Walks and Bird Watching (Seasonal)
Enjoy the abundance of wildlife on one of our guided nature walks. Your guide will take you around the southern edge of the lake, on a trail rich with flora and fauna. Thriving with a variety of wildlife, nature walks are favorites with photographers. You may even catch a glimpse of American bald eagles that have made Alisal Lake their home.
