Interview with Alisal PGA Head Golf Pro Robert “Boo” Scarpati

What is your title at Alisal and what do you do?
I am the PGA Head Golf Professional for the Alisal River Course. I oversee all the day to day operations of the facility

How did you get into the golf world?
I grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley and was a member of the Ranch Course where I learned to play golf. I started in the Golf business in 1990 as a grounds crew employee in Colorado. Then got accepted into the San Diego Golf Academy earned a two year business degree then was hired as an Assistant Golf professional

What do you love most about what you do?
The people and being surrounded by beautiful settings

What is your top recommendation you think Alisal guests should try or do while staying here?
They should try all activities, fishing, golf, riding horses

Where were you born and raised?
Born in Summit New Jersey and raised right here in the Santa Ynez Valley

Where has been your favorite place to live?
Colorado and California

Where have you traveled to that you simply must return to?
Hawaii and family golf trips –

What are your hobbies? What do you love to do most when not working/planning events for Alisal?
Playing golf, hanging out with family, yard work, washing cars, driving RC cars, cooking

Being a Father to my son Cooper

What is the one thing most people may not know about you?
I love to listen to loud music, and watch insipid movies

What is your favorite food?
Burritos and Pizza

What are your top three favorite Alisal menu items for events?
Steak BBQ’s and Raspberry Cobbler with Vanilla ice cream
