Introducing Tenley and Pete.
How did you two meet? Pete and I got to know each other while wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley with my sister-in-law, who was a co-worker of Pete’s at the time.
How did you decide on Alisal Guest Ranch for your wedding ? My brother and father were members of the Alisal, we loved the location, quality of the food & services provided, along with the reasonable rates.
Where did you hold the wedding? We were married on the lawn outside the Sycamore Room, under the lovely Sycamore trees.
What was your featured wedding menu? We had a delicious selection of heavy hors d’œuvres, local wines, Lucas & Lewellen sparkling wine, and Alisal made wedding cake.
What entertainment did you have for your celebration? Bill Powell was our pianist. He played a varied selection of classical swing and jazz tunes, and our favorite number he played was ‘What A Wonderful World’, which is the number he played for our wedding dance.
What highlights of your Alisal wedding day stand out to you most? The highlights of our day included having our young daughter stand by Tenley’s side as her lovely Maid of Honor and having our friend Jim Farnum perform the wedding ceremony. Bill Powell, a neighbor and friend, played the piano during the reception in the Sycamore Room, and we spent the day surrounded by a small, intimate group of family and friends from as near as Solvang, to as far away as Australia.
We planned a late fall wedding hoping for cool temperatures, however it ended up being 102 degrees, and ash from the Happy Canyon fire was falling upon us. It did make for a lovely evening sunset.
The Valley centric feeling which included local wines, and having our rehearsal dinner at The Ballard Inn, reminds us of everything we love about the Santa Ynez Valley, our home.
Would you recommend Alisal Guest Ranch to anyone thinking of getting married? Yes. We liked how everything was all inclusive, trusted all would be as hoped for, and the location is gorgeous for an outside wedding.
How many years have you been married and what is your advice for a successful marriage thus far? We have been married 10 years. Our advice to a successful marriage thus far – Talk A LOT!
